CPD: Creative Storytelling
This workshop is ideal for teachers (including SEND teachers), Early Years’ practitioners, Post Graduate Certificate in Education students, youth workers or anyone interested in education and is looking for new ideas and inspirational ways to motivate and stimulate students’ imagination and curiosity, especially in delivering STEM subjects. |
This hands-on programme provides opportunity for participants to learn and explore how storytelling performance techniques such as improvisation, presentation skills, voice projection, audience interaction, etc., can be incorporated in their everyday work with children and young people to enhance their engagement, particularly those with learning and/or verbal disabilities. Guaranteed to equip participants, especially teachers, with a range of techniques and skills to take into the classroom.
Workshop involves introductory demonstration and hands-on exploration of African storytelling and drama performance techniques. Activities will enable participants to work in small groups. They will be enabled and encouraged to use various expressive means e.g. improvisation, storytelling, drama, characterisation, multiple role-playing, music, sound and physical theatre elements i.e. rhythm, song, dance, mime and movement, etc., to explore devised or textual work. The workshop can end in a mini-showcase as an added opportunity to showcase skills learnt.
